of Puyallup
Jan 20, 1936
to Mar. 24, 2015
Judith Louise Ohme, 79, of Puyallup, WA passed away on the 24th of March 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital due to a severe stroke and brain hemorrhage. She passed away surrounded by her husband (Ken), children (Kim Jasionkowski and Mark Ohme), and grandchildren (Christy, Caryn, Christian, Tattianna, and Courtney).
Judy was born on the 20th of January 1936 to Harold and Myrtle Wenberg in Hibbing, MN. She grew up there with her brother Jack and sister Donna up until she lost her parents at a young age. After their passing, she moved to her sister's home where she stayed through the completion of high school.
On the 30th of March, 1957 Judy married Ken Ohme in Hibbing, MN. It was at this point she began her life as a military spouse in the United States Air Force. It was the following year on the 19th of August that she bore her daughter Kim and later had her son in 1969.
She arrived in Tacoma, WA in 1972. It was at this point that Judy first entered into the medical field. Beginning as an administrative clerk with Lakewood General Hospital working in the emergency room; Judy began to learn and excel at the job of medical administration. When the family moved to Bremerton, WA in 1977, after her husband retired from the Air Force, she hired on with Harrison Hospital where she worked for a short period until moving on to take over a small medical office for Doctors Cogen and Higley. Years later as the practice grew, with the addition of Doctors Eddy and Evanoff , her position shifted to medical office manager. It was in this capacity that she worked, up until she retired in 1997. At this point she worked only part time for a couple doctors' offices when her help was needed.
In 1987 she became a grandmother to twins, Caryn and Christy Jasionkowski, and spent many weekends having the "girls" over to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa.
In the summer of 1998, Judy and Ken took in their son's children Christian, Tattianna, and Courtney Ohme after the death of their stepmother. Over the next ten years Judy and Ken raised the children while their son continued his military service in the US Army. It was through their sacrifice that the children had many of the opportunities they might not have had otherwise.
Judy loved to work in her garden, go camping, and spend time with her family.
In the fall of 2014 Judy and Ken began the process of moving down to Puyallup, WA to be closer to their children. It was in the middle of this process when we lost Judy Ohme on March 24th, 2015. She was loved by many and will be missed forever.
Services will be held at the Miller-Woodlawn Cemetery Bremerton, WA on the 11th of April, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer Association.
