Joseph J Hudson

Joseph John Hudson Sr. Passed away on October 8, 2011, at home in Silverdale, WA, after a battle with cancer. Dad was born in Bremerton to John A. and Leila (Thorson) Hudson. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1945. Dad served in the U.S. Army stationed in Tokyo 1945-46. He started his career at PSNS as a sheet metal apprentice, retiring in 1983 from PERA-CV. He married Jeri Geiger on April 14, 1952, in Bremerton.

Dad loved to race cars in the 1940’s & 50’s. He helped build the first go kart track in Kitsap. He enjoyed any kind of car racing and all the local car shows. In the 1950’s he joined the Roadster Racing Association, the Bremerton Car Club, and was a lifetime member of the Elks. He also loved the 57 summers that were spent at Tiger Lake with family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his brother Frank and sister Mary Jane. He is survived by his brother John (Nellie) of Seattle, his wife Jeri of Silverdale, sons Joe Jr. (Lorraine) of Bremerton, Dean (Vicki) of Tualatin, OR, Paul (Rebecca) of Bremerton, and 3 grandchildren Mallori (Jordan) Juster of Salem, OR, and Luke and Bryn Hudson of Tualatin, OR. Also lifelong friends Bob & Gail Calnan and Duane Baker.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the Bremerton Elks Lodge #1181 on Pine Road in Bremerton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitsap County Hospice, 3100 Bucklin Hill Rd. Suite 201, Silverdale, WA 98383.
