Jewel LaVay Gates, born March 25, 1922 to Pearl and Floyd Ludwig, passed away April 27, 2016. Jewel was a homemaker and also worked a short time for Dr. Bussik in Bremerton. Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, her son Floyd Petersen, and her husband Joe Gates. She is survived by sons Herman (Sandy) Petersen, and Gary (Jacquie) Petersen as well as 5 grandchildren, Mike, Jeff, and Brian Petersen, Sheridan Kent (Jay), Dallas Llamas, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and her sister Billy Filion. The family would like to give special thanks to Marine Court and to the hospice staff for their loving care. Services will be held May 13, 2016 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home at 12:00pm.
