Janet was born October 31, 1933 in Constantine, Michigan to William and Alice (Parris) Harshbarger. She earned her nursing degree in Peoria, Illinois. After graduation, she traveled to Bremerton, Washington where she continued her nursing career. She was a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years and retired from Virginia Mason Hospital after 25 years.
Janet met Jerry in Bremerton. They were married in 1957. The love that they had for each other was carried through 62 Anniversaries. It was rare to see one without the other. Their marriage has always been an example of devotion, love and friendship. One of Janet’s greatest joys was traveling with Jerry. She loved the planning as much as the trips, no matter by auto or air.
Janet and Jerry raised 3 children together all of which have inherited her sense of adventure and curiosity for the world around them. She would always say, “look out the window”.
Her other great joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a gift of remembering each one of them in a special way. Janet was passionate about her family and friends, gardening, birds, travel, her church and especially her Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Wagner, daughter Jeannine (Bill) Thurn, son Darrell (Donny Nguyen) Wagner, daughter Allison (Eric) Ebner, grandchildren Ethan (Kelly) Ebner, Aaron Ebner, Eric Ebner, Blake Ebner, Elliana Ebner, great grandchildren, Evander, Caroline and Amaru. She is preceded in death by sister Edith Sprunger.
A graveside service will be held Friday July 19, 2019 for immediate family. A memorial serve to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
