James William Geier passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2019 after courageously battling cancer. He is survived by his wife Miracle and daughter Angela, mother, seven brothers and sisters, Michael and Steven Nolan, seven step children and many grandchildren.
Jim was born in Rochester New York on September 2, 1955 to Clark and Mary Tice. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the Navy and trained as a boiler technician on submarines. He served in San Diego, Japan, and the Philippines. In 1981 after retiring from the Navy Jim began a career as a pipefitter in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, eventually training to work with the nuclear propulsion systems on the vessels there. After thirty seven years he finally retired late in 2018.
Jim was curious and intelligent and had many interests. He loved nurturing living things and as a bachelor his living room was half jungle and half aquarium.On any given day he could be found working on a home project, repairing something on his pickup truck, or taking long rides around the Puget Sound on his motorcycle. Among his interests the things he found the most joy in revolved around fishing and camping with his family. Some of his most valued memories were of the fishing trips he would take with the boys. He also loved camping with Danial, Aaron, and William.
Jim and Miracle met in Yakima, Washington and were friends for several years eventually falling in love. Jim proposed and in 1996. He and Miracle were married in Yakima, Washington. They had years of adventures together with their greatest adventure taking place 4 years ago with the fostering of a baby girl whom they eventually adopted and now call “daughter”. Jim and Miracle were devoted to each other and worked to overcome the challenges of life together always remaining true friends and sharing one heart.
The main passion of his life was the focus on following God’s plan for his life and his desire to be a good husband and father. He had a heart of compassion and empathy for those in need and worked tirelessly to improve himself through prayer and study. His absence in the lives of those that loved him will be hard but we can continue forward knowing that he walks beside his Creator and his pain is gone forever.
