Jim graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and attended WSU and the Cornish School of Allied Arts. Jim was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946.
His passion in life was golf and he proudly served as President of Kitsap Golf and Country Club, and coached Warren Avenue Peewees. He was very involved with his church and an active member in his community, including the Elks. His creative abilities touched many through his artistic illustrations, which brought joy to the hearts of everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Hiroko, and his seven children: Kathleen Hogan, Margi Scheyer, Larry Downey, Fred Downey, Patti Downey, Naoko Narisawa and Katsutoshi Ota, along with eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A "Celebration of Life" will be Saturday, April 2nd at 2 p.m. at Bremerton United Methodist Church, 1150 Marine Drive in Bremerton, WA.
