On March 8th at 7:28 p.m. in Lake Havasu City, Az. Gene Logan ‘slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God.‘
Born in Longview, Wa. On January 19th 1949 to James L. and Zita M. Logan he was a graduate of Star of the Sea Catholic School and West Bremerton High School, both in Bremerton, Wa. He married Sue Dickson in 1992.
Gene enjoyed a diverse and interesting youth before settling on a career in the communication and electrical construction field. Employed in various locations in the northwest he ultimately found the opportunity and adventure he sought in the Alaskan interior and it was there that he experienced professional fulfillment and accomplishment. He was a member of Electrical Union 1547 in Anchorage, Alaska.
In 1999 he purchased a waterfront home on the banks of his beloved Kenai River where new adventure awaited him.
Retiring in 2010 he and Sue embarked on a new career of travel, recreation, and fishing and his circle of friends grew exponentially during those years and, as he had done throughout his life, welcomed all those who came into his embrace always heeding the words of William Butler Yeats that "Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was that I had such friends." The fishing season was festive at the Kenai River home and he delighted in having friends and family visit not only to fish but to observe him spinning a yarn as well as a fishing reel. He was remarkably adept and amusing at doing both…..often simultaneously. In recent years he and Sue traveled to warmer climates during the Alaskan winter, but the lure of that Kenai River home inevitably hooked him as springtime approached.
Gene is survived by his wife Sue; his son Mike Logan (Krissi) and grandchildren Tyler and Brandon; his son Christopher Logan and grandchildren Tayla and Jesse; his daughter Keli Ray Logan; his stepchildren Travis Colby Cote and Pam Dickson Spicer (Kyle) and grandchildren Angelina and Jaden. He is additionally survived by his brothers Gary, Alan, and his sister Lois. His father and mother both predeceased him.
Gene possessed personable and dedicated attributes as a father, a grandfather, a husband, a brother, and a friend. His life reminds us all of the words expressed in 2 Timothy 4:7 that ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.’
We will miss him a lot.
