Darrell attended Litchfield schools graduating in 1958. He played football and basketball until he broke his ankle. He loved any sports.
Once he graduated he worked in numerous jobs until he went to work at Hendricks Super Market where he learned how to be a meat cutter. He married Elaine Beckman and had a daughter. They moved to Buffalo where he went to work for Esau's Market. Later going to work at Holmquists. In 1977 he met Pat Capes and her daughter Mary. They married in December of 1977 and had 2 sons. In 1984 they made the move to Woodinville, Washington and he went to work for QFC where he worked for 17 years. He moved to Redmond in 1988. He coached his boys in basketball and baseball.
In 2001 he retired and he and Pat did the snow birds thing for 13 years. They moved to Moses Lake cause it was a slower pace. Then health forced them not to go south anymore.
In October of 2019 they moved back over to the west side and moved in with their daughter. They were getting ready to move into a senior place then he fell and broke his hip and had to go to rehab.
He passed away October 10, 2020.

3 Great-Grandchildren: Aubrey and Brody Slimmer, and Ophelia McLouth
