So sorry for your loss . Colin looks just like his dad Francis He had many relatives back in Minnesota on his dad's side that he never met. Like his Great Grandma , and many  Aunt's and Uncle's and many cousin's. We are sadden by his death but his love for flying comes from  his father and the music comes from his Grandma Galles side that actually had a little band in the relation.. Colin Barnes was one of the nicest persons I ever met! In the late 80's, I was an assistant manager at Kitsap Way Burger King and Colin was a closer every Friday and Saturday night. There were many weekends that we worked together. Back in those days, the store would close at 1 a.m. and depending how busy we were, we would get out of there in the wee hours of the morning. I always marveled on how Colin would work at Burger King knowing he had a full time job with Puget Power. He was one of the best Burger King workers I ever knew and I knew many over 12 years at different Burger Kings.

I remember, I think it was in 1987, Colin, another Burger King Assistant manager named Jerry, and I went on an over night hiking campout to Deer Lake in the Olympic Mountains. It was the longest day of the year, June 21st, and it rained. Colin had such a good attitude. It was nice the next day. I'll never forget that hiking trip and our time together in the great outdoors!

My real big regret was losing contact with him after my Burger King days.  He was a great friend! I ran into him once or twice and we shook hands and said hello. He was a very good man.  And like I said, he was absolutely one of the nicest persons I ever met. My condolences go out to the family. Colin, you were such a nice person and you will be missed!

Colin actually was my step-son and I always regretted that he didn’t stay in our lives. His half-brother, David always loved it when he would come and take him for rides as there was 17 years between them.  Since 2011 we would meet for breakfast or lunch on a weekend and after I moved to Arizona still did so when I came  for a visit.  I have since moved to Ocean City, MD before Covid and planned on coming back later in October.  Colin was a great young man and loved flying just like his dad!  I shall really miss not seeing him this trip home.  He was always so friendly and smiling and I loved him and interacting with him!  May God hold you in his arms and continue flying forever Colin!! Love you forever my dear step-son and friend!!!

Walter Raleigh once said the engine is the heart of the plane, but the pilot is the soul. And that was 100% true of my Papa. 

My Papa, Colin Barnes, was the calm and gentle soul of our family (that glued our wild & chaotic family together. 

But before that, he was born  3/9/1950 to Francis and Gloria Galles, and he grew up right here in Bremerton with his grandparents Tony and Mary Morello. 

He was a total nerd growing up (and as an adult) and literally played the accordion. Like on purpose. 

He got an associates degree from Olympic College, and then a bachelors from Seattle University, mostly because it was required to become a pilot. 

His life took a different direction and he worked for 45 years as a meter technician for puget sound energy. He also spent 15 years working at Burger King on Saturday and Sunday nights, plus spent some time as a baggage handler Saturday mornings just so he could see the airplanes. 

He also met my Nana and they married in 1979 and my Papa became dad to her three boys: Thom, my dad, Tim, and Crick.  

My Papa absolutely loved my Nana, they were married 42 years before she passed away two years ago,but I believe he loved the kids even more. 

And, not that I’m biased, but I think that paled into comparison for the love that man had for his five grandchildren. 

When we were preparing for the funeral, I had to look through tons of photographs of my Papa, and there are photos of him with each of us five (myself and my siblings Scott and Christina plus my cousins Destynie and Christopher). Playing with us, snuggling us, dunking basketballs on us, and everything in between. 

My Papa was always silly and goofy as all heck. He loved the King and Spongebob, and had a total man crush on Dwayne the Rock Johnson though he’d never admit it. 

But all of that had nothing on his obsession with airplanes. That man could tell you everything there was to know about airplanes. He even took me and my siblings up in a tiny airplane on one exciting 

I had the pleasure to work with Colin for a few years.  He was the nicest person you could ever meet and I always enjoyed chatting with him.  Often times it was when he stopped in the office to heat up his lunch.  I would worry it was getting cold on him but he never did.  He was so kind, dedicated, and caring.  He will be missed so much by all of us.  My condolences to the family for losing such a special person and bright shining light. 

Colin was the kindest guy... I came out to visit from MA and he'd be there to take the ferry ride into Seattle to show off all the sights...Space Needle,Pioneer Square.We had great times.He will be missed...xo

I worked with Colin in the meter shop for a few years. I loved his smile and his laugh. When I think of him, I picture him just that way. He was such a kind man. I loved seeing all the airplane pictures in his workspace. It was fun getting to know him outside of work.
Rest In Peace Colin, you will be missed. 

Colin taught me every single thing I know about my current job, as he was a master beyond compare. He greeted me each day with a laugh and a smile, even though we was tired from the long commute in. He told me stories of his long, interesting life, and was always engaged when I told him some of mine. He listened and cared when I was going through a very tough stage in my life, because he always made himself available when I needed to talk. And he was deeply interested in my health, my well-being, and my comfort, EVEN as he struggled to maintain his own.

Colin was selfless, non-judgmental, funny, and dedicated to a degree I had never thought possible. The level to which I will miss him is insurmountable. The world is a different place without him... just a little bit darker without his brilliance. But the imprint he left on me is something I'll cherish the rest of my life.

Colin Barnes was one of the finest people I’ve ever met. He was remarkable — kind and gentle as others have attested and also someone who didn’t realize how special he was. The world is a better place for him having been in it. Love to you, Colin, and prayers for your family.

Colin was a co-worker. Always gentle, patient and a very sweet man. I remember he loved airplanes and was very happy when we were working at the SeaTac facility where the planes flew right overhead.  
Be at peace my gentle friend. 

Colin and I worked together and he always had a smile on his face and had to be one of most nicest person I had ever met with never a mean word spoken. Even through all of his health issues he never let it get him down. We had many conversations on a daily basis he was a true joy to have around and to know. I will miss him as most people will. RIP Colin you certainly left a mark on all who had the pleasure to have known you.

Colin was my brother. He truly was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. My kids all loved "Mr. Uncle Colin" You will be missed.

Colin was a co-worker who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.  He was a living example of how to treat our fellow man.  Never uttered a complaint.  Even in these last years as he suffered from failing health, he kept a positive attitude.  Fly High Colin.  You will be remembered and deeply missed.

Colin was the most kindest of individual. I didn’t know him beyond the work environment but, he never had a bad word about anyone. He loved to fly and we would talk a lot about it.  He will be missed
