She was a free spirit about life like her father. She loved to sew, bake, and crochet for endless hours. Baking for friends and family gave her joy by experimenting using different recipes.
Barbara completed her degree in Tailoring at the Broadway Edison Community College in Seattle , WA.
Barbara's parents immigrated from Texas to Bremerton, WA shortly after her birth in 1941. They worked at the Bremerton Shipyard for 6 years then transferred to Seattle, WA to work at the Boeing Company site until their retirement.
After Barbara graduated from high school, she followed her parents as an employee at Boeing Co. Her job was wiring the cockpits of airplanes.
Barbara later applied and was assigned to the Kitsap County Road Department in the Traffic Sign Shop as a Traffic Sign Technician. She prepared and created signs to label the streets, highways and byways which some may still exist today.
Barbara worked directly with the Summer Help Program workers assigned to her shop. They appreciated her professional manner in instruction, patience, and concern for learning this trade. She retired from the shop in 2006.
Barbara and the late Benoit Ward were childhood sweethearts since their parents were close friends and immigrated together to Bremerton, WA. They were married in Canada year 1969. They remained close friends until his death in 1995.
Barbara raised three children Elva, Elgon Sr. and Qiana who attended the local public schools.
Her parents the late Samuel Zeumault and Sammie L Zeumault, spouse Benoit Ward and son Elgon Bower Sr. preceded her in passing. The family will miss Barbara: daughters Elva Pines, Qiana Ward; grandchildren Elgon BowserJr., Geaneva McCoy; great grandchild Selena McCoy Ward; brother Adrien Zeumault, Marquis Zeumault, sister Lora Bolden; and friends, coworkers and the Bremerton Community.
