Guy C. Miner, Jr., 87 of Brattleboro, VT passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Brattleboro on July 24, 1926, the son of the late Guy C., Sr. and Annabel H. (MacGinn) Miner.
Guy is a lifelong resident of the Brattleboro area. He was educated in the Brattleboro school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1944. He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army. Guy was employed as a Quality Control Inspector for Boise Cascade for many years until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, being a “snowbird” and spending winters in FL, watching and sharing his knowledge of the stock market, and was a Red Sox fanatic.
Guy had a great dry sense of humor. He was extremely proud of his military career and his Scottish heritage, but his greatest and proudest achievement in life was his family, they meant the world to him. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether it was attending their sporting events, family celebrations or quiet time at home. Guy’s family will best remember him as a loving and caring, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is predeceased by his wife, Irene (Darling) Miner in 2007 and a sister, Isabel Miner.
He is survived by three sons, Kevin Miner and his wife Lauri of Newfane, Kerry Miner and his companion Susan Mello of Putney, and Shawn Miner and his wife Lynn of Guilford; a daughter, Sherri Deyo and her husband David of Brattleboro nine grandchildren, Corey Bernard and her husband Andrew, Kara McAuliffe, Kyle Miner and his fiancée Jenn, David Deyo and his wife Hilary, Robbie Miner, Tessa Deyo, Trevor Miner, Michael Miner and his wife Emmy, and Meghan Miner; six great grandchildren, Kelsea and Mya McAuliffe, and Keyah, Lexi, Reese and Bryson Miner, and two sister in laws, Joyce Winn and her husband Wayne and Nancianne Houghton and her husband Bill.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Collette Everett for the wonderful treatment, care and smiles she gave to their father. He thought the world of you and so do we. Thank You!
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11AM at The Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT 05301. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Guy’s name to BAYADA Home Health Care, 23 Marlboro Rd., #101, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
