Roderick MacNeil

Died peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, December 10th, 2013 in his 77th year. Born in Shenacadie, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, May 15th, 1937, he was the son of Donald John and Rachel MacNeil, Christmas Island, Cape Breton. He is survived by his daughters Shelley and Rachel; sons Roderick, Jimmy, Patrick, and Stephen; sisters Ambrosa (Norman) MacNeil, Brantford, and Sr. Rachel of the Sisters of Saint Martha, Antigonish; brother Stephen (Betty) MacNeil, North Side East-Bay; and his friend and former wife Donna (Kucharew) MacNeil. Predeceased by his first wife Jo-Ann (Sampson) MacNeil; his parents D.J. and Rachel; brothers Charles, Conrad (Pat), Brantford; sisters Rose (Maurice) Collin, Brantford, and Blanche (Roddy) Townsend, North Sydney. He will be remembered by his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street, Brantford, on Thursday, December 12th from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm with parish prayers at 8:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace Street, Friday, December 13th at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
