Called to be with the Lord, peacefully at home with her children by her side on Thursday March 9, 2017. Much loved mother of Margaret (Stephen) Karek and John (Carolyn). Very Proud and loving Babcia of Adam, Matthew & Julia. Pre-deceased by her husband Stanley (1998), parents Jan and Kunegunda Slaga and brothers Andrew, Peter, Jozef and Szczepan. Mary leaves behind many family and dear friends in Poland, Canada and the USA. Mary was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, member of the CWL, and Rosary Sodality. She was a nurse at the BGH for over 25 years. Her strength and inspiration since Stanley died was remarkable.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Church, 235 Brant Avenue on Monday March 13th at 10:00 am. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary by the members of the Catholic Women’s League at the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 pm and Parish Prayers (Polish) at 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph’s Parish Memorial Scholarship Fund, the National Catholic Broadcasting Council ( Daily T.V. Mass) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Legere and the nurses at Stedman Community outreach team, nurses Starla and Mark and Niece Christine Gawlik for making Mary’s final days peaceful and comfortable.

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you,
And whispered, "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands laid to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
