Peacefully at home in the arms of her daughter on Wednesday July 6, 2016. Daughter of the late Isabelle McDougall and Hector P. MacNeil. Predeceased by her husband Ed and her son Ken.. Loving mother of Donna ( her piece of gold and rock) and her husband John Hagerty of St. John’s Newfoundland. Cherished grandmother of Kenny (Colleen), Paula (Stephen), and Brendan (Jennifer) whom she adored and 5 great- grandchildren Kian, Ethan, Kealy, Mary and Fiona. Sister of Mickie, Leona (Arthur), Teresa and Dena and predeceased by brother Patrick, and sisters Christine, Peggy and Irene. Special sister-in-law of Anne MacNeil, Olive Buote and Perley Morley and survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Marie was a 31 year employee of the Brantford Expositor and a long- time member of St. Mary’s Parish.

The family will receive friends at the “Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home and Chapel” 96 West Street on Friday July 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm with parish prayers at the funeral home at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 133 Murray Street on Saturday July 9th at 10:00 am. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
