Joseph Paul Simon

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Simon announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on September 30th, 2017 at home surrounded by his family, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Wilson) for 60 years. Loving father to Patricia (Larry) McLeod, the late Paul, Mary, Michael (Teresa) and Jane (Brian) Drehmer. Grandfather to Zachary (Tabitha), Dalton, Connor and Great Grandfather to Dayson and Gryffin. Sadly missed by sister Helen Stern, sister-in-law Jean Grundy, Mark, Kim and Robin of Texas and his step-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Kathleen, sisters Irene (Ted) and Margaret and brother Paul. Joseph served as a firefighter for 33years with the last 12 years as Chief. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West St., on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 9 Waverly St., on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at 11am. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Jurvinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
