John Samuel McCormick

It is with heavy heart that the family would like to announce the passing of John McCormick surrounded by his family following a difficult battle with cancer, at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario. Monday December 2, 2024 at the age of 72.

John was born May 3, 1952 to Fredrick and Patricia McCormick in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Beloved husband of Martha and loving father to Megan Curtis (Ryan) and loving papa to his granddaughters Emily and Madison. John will be also be missed by his beloved fur baby Sophie.

John worked as a welder for many years before retiring. John’s passion was listening to music, playing his guitar and singing. You could always find John enjoying his country music in his garage where he would entertain friends and family. His favourite hockey team was the Montreal Canadians and it was not unlike John having a wager on the game.

John will be greatly missed by his siblings Stephen McCormick, Kelly McCormick (Tammy). Winnie Moore, Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Marie Schermerhorn (Hank) and Patricia McCormick. Brother in law Joe Hevesi (Ana) and Robert Hevesi (Jody) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Patricia McCormick. Brother Leonard McCormick, and sister in law Judy McCormick and in laws Joseph and Margaret Hevesi.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, 96 West Street, Brantford on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 2 pm. Luncheon to follow.
