Joan Bennett Johnson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan, on April 28, 2016, in her 90th year at the Brantford General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband John Harold Johnson (1973), son David (1992) and brothers Brian and Peter. Remaining are sister Mrs. Nancy Reynolds of Orpington, Kent, England and sister-in-law Maureen Kentfield of Wareham, Dorset, England. Mother to Michael (Carol), Pamela (Al), Kathryn (Tom) Julie (Dave), Barry (Terrie), Brenda and Colleen (Warren) and cherished Grandma and Great-Grandma. Thank you to the compassionate and gentle care our mother and family received from the doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit. Mom’s pain is finally over. Joan loved her family and her little house. She had been an avid gardener, enjoyed long walks and travelling, especially back home to England where she grew up. Joan had been actively involved in different organizations such as the Overseas Wives Club, Parents without Partners and Beckett Walking Club. She also loved reading and doing needlework. A celebration of Joan’s life will take place at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street, on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11am.
