Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at the Brantford General Hospital, on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband Fred (1967). Loving mother of Gerry (Lucy), David (Leanne), Deb (Chris) Wilson, and Rod (Clara). Dear Grandmother of Laura (Jordy), Greg, Joel (Meagan), Damien (Jesse) and special grandma to Karen. Great grandmother of Nina, Mitchell and Bo. Sister of Aggie of Newfoundland, cherished sister-in-law to Edna Graham, Rudy Albonico, and Margie O’Toole. Anna was predeceased by siblings: Joseph, Kevin, Bernadette, Patrick, and Frank; brothers-in-law Bernard, Walter, William, Jim, Pat, and Bill, and sisters-in-law Mary, Florence, Sue, Mary, Eda, Marg, and Jean. Anna will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews in both Ontario and Newfoundland and missed by her little buddy Casey. Predeceased by nephews Wayne and Doug Graham. Anna was a long-time member of St. Basil’s Parish and the CWL. Mom’s knitting talents produced over 1900 hats for newborn babies born at the Brantford General Hospital over the years and was affectionately known as the Candy lady to many city bus drivers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace St., on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:00AM followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ CARRIAGE HOUSE”, 96 West Street, Brantford following the Interment. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff on Critical Care and Palliative Care at the BGH for their excellent care and compassion to our mom. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Palliative Care unit at the Brantford General Hospital or the Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
