Valerie Lee Scheib, a beloved resident of Lithia, FL, passed away on April 12th, 2024, at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 6th, 1947, to E.K. Prisel and Mercedes Dolfi, Valerie's journey was one marked by resilience, love, and a passion for life.
After graduating from Alta Loma High School in 1965, Valerie embarked on a remarkable career path. Settling in Michigan, she dedicated herself to the world of retail, starting at Wicks-N-Sticks and eventually becoming the proud owner of the store in Lansing, MI. Alongside her husband David, Valerie expanded their business ventures, acquiring several more locations throughout Southern Michigan, all of which flourished under their guidance.
Retiring in 2002 didn't slow Valerie down. She found joy and fulfillment as a tour guide for America by Rails, a role that allowed her to explore the vast landscapes of the United States and parts of Canada. Together with her husband, she ventured to numerous countries, cherishing each moment and experience they shared.
In 2016, Valerie made the decision to relocate to Florida to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Even in retirement, she remained active, working part-time at Marshalls and dedicating her time to volunteering at her grandchildren's schools. Among her many passions, Valerie cherished the simple joys of playing cards, hosting dinner parties with dear friends, and most of all, spending precious moments with her family, who were the light of her life.
Valerie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, her parents, and her brother Jay Prisel. She is survived by her loving children, Keni (Jeff) Wanbaugh, Andrea (Alex) Saudi, Jeanne (Mitch) Hayes, Erik Cooley, Michael (Angela) Oglesby, and her adored grandchildren Nicholas, Meredith, and Veronica Wanbaugh; Isaac Saudi; Ethan and Elliot Hayes; Skylar and Tylar Cooley.
Valerie's legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever alive in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of life for Valerie will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Overflow Outreach Church, 10540 Browning Road, Lithia, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for your support through memorial contributions to the Jay family, who are mourning the sudden loss of their beloved teenage son. As valued members of Valerie's church community, she would wholeheartedly advocate for this gesture, knowing it would offer crucial comfort during their time of grief.
