Its been a year today. Dad has never been forgotten, everyday I think of him and as a family we speak of him often . Our memories are full of tears, but mostly laughter.  You are truly missed Dad ❤️    Sending much love ,Micki

A year has gone, but not a day forgotten.

Over the years, I was only able to spend a few brief visits with my Uncle Tom, but each one I will treasure. He was a kind-hearted family man who always extended compliments with a Duchenne smile. Perhaps for the both of us, it was the connection to his brother, my father that made the time special. And, all the loving family members who surrounded and supported him. He will be missed by all of us who respected and loved him for being that genuine man in our life. 

My father would frequently say, "We're all just products of our environment", but he was much more.  A man who was on his own as a child, a young man who supported his father and friends, a man who drew a line in the sand between right and wrong and who never compromised his loyalties.
I walk into my own twilight years knowing that he loved our mother, he loved each of us differently but equally, he looked into the face of adversity not with pride, but with strength.
He will be missed, he will be spoken of often, he will live in my heart. Elizabeth

My Uncle Tom was one of the last real men to walk this earth. He came from nothing, growing up without a mother and essentially abandoned by his father. Him and his brother fought for survival on the streets of New York City. Growing up, never wishing for more than 3 warm meals a day and safe place to rest his body. Later, he joined the Army where he learned they would pay you to box. Having fought countless times, the last thing he wanted was another fight. Money won, and he became All-Army Champ. Post Army, he married Terri, worked with his brother at Otis Elevator and moved to NJ. He raised a family of five children; Elizabeth, Ruth, Micki, Tom and Terri, commuted every day, worked diligently and lived a traditional life. Retiring from Otis, he moved to Florida where his children eventually joined him. Retired and surrounded by his children he was in a happy place. Years later, he lost his wife who he loved dearly. You could sense the pain of his loss and the ramifications it would have on the remainder of his life. Through his loss and bout with cancer, he never complained. Never showed weakness. He lost his only brother 40 years ago and I lost my father. I yearned to hear stories of them growing up and working at Otis. My uncle and my father never wanted to speak of themselves, their life or their childhood pain. For the few stories he told and the times I got to spend with my uncle, I am eternally grateful. Except for the times he took my money playing Texas Hold’em! What I loved most about my uncle was his character. They say money doesn’t make a man, he didn’t have a lot of money. Muscles don’t make a man, he wasn’t concerned with having big muscles. It’s character that makes a man. A man’s character isn’t judged during good times but by how he handles adversity, when his back is against the wall. It is the man that can overcome adversity that is a true champion, a true man. And no one was a truer man, a truer champion than my uncle Tom. 

My Dad passed this week,though it breaks my heart he was ready,He was a strong man,full of encouragement when we were children and as adults.He will be missed by all of us.My prayer for him is that  he reaches my Mom cause that is where his heart is.I love you Dad.

I  will have very special memories of my father, the last six years I have cared for him. he shared many stories with me, for my friends who know us , They had heard many stories of time together. My dad was an amazing man, grew up in a hard time in new York ,  He grew into a strong man ,who cared deeply for his family. He never missed the opportunity to tell  me he loved me..  My heart is breaking , and I will miss him so very much . I find myself walking into his room to check on him, but I know his is in a better place with my mom . Right where he wanted to be.
