He was born in Tampa, Florida, son of Rose and Talmadge Bigbie.
Ron graduated Brandon High School in 1968, then attended The University of South Florida, earning his bachelor’s degree. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He then married his former wife, Karen (Nasworthy) Bigbie and together had a son. Ron’s career was spent with the Eli Witt Company of Tampa, from which he retired in 2006. He later held various roles as a freelance consultant for various firms.
An expert hunter and avid outdoorsman, Ron spent his free time hunting and fishing as much as possible. Along the way he shared his passion and knowledge for wildlife and nature with so many. He was blessed with a lifetime of friendships built with fellow sportsmen. Ron often traveled to South Carolina and Georgia, among many other states to hunt. He had a lifetime dedication to wildlife conservation, and teaching others, young and old the skills and ethics of the outdoors.
He was an irreplaceable father, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his son, Ryan Christopher (Rebecca) Bigbie; sister, Dolores (Woody) Wadsworth; uncle, Theodore (Ada) Barnwell; niece, Rhonda (Bruce) Meeks; nephews Mark and Darrin Barnwell; great nephew, Trevor Meeks; great nieces Kendal Meeks, Layton Meeks; extended family members and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held April 1st, 2023 at 2:00pm at 3910 N Charlie Taylor Road, Plant City FL 33565.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ron’s memory to the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida or Hunting for Healing.
