Steven Lane McGinnis

Steven Lane McGinnis, 68, passed away peacefully September 5, 2018 while surrounded by family. He was born on September 6, 1949 in Bedford, IN to James H McGinnis and Alexandra Walick. Steve was a resident of Zephyrhills, Florida where he graduated in 1967 from Zephyrhills High School. While living in Zephyrhills, Steve met and married his beloved wife of 42 years, Cathryn L Greene. In the 80’s, they resided in Norfolk, VA before returning to Florida so Steve could enter the Golf Course Operations program at then Lake City Community College. He graduated in 1989 with magna cum laude honors. After college, Steve and family moved to Brandon and have resided there since.

Steve was a survivor of both diabetes and prostate cancer and most recently diagnosed with liver cancer.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents James and Alexandra, step-mother Peggy, sister Marcia and her husband John Gallagher. He is survived by his beloved wife Cathy, his three sons, Ben, Dustin and James, and his granddaughter, Coralina, all of Brandon. Other survivors include his older brother Mike and wife Pat of Ocala and younger brother Rick and wife Cheryl of Gainesville, niece Maureen and husband John of Williamsburg, VA along with several other nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Steve asked before passing to be cremated.
