Samuel Ray, Jr., born March 1, 1944, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 31, 2018. He was born in Durham, NC and lived in Tampa, FL for 22 years, Apple Valley, CA for 1 year, and Land O’ Lakes, FL for the past 9 years. Sam was an amazing man, devoted father, loving grandfather, and kind friend; touching the lives of everyone with whom he came in contact. He is profoundly missed by his family and friends; and will forever be remembered for his caring ways and his enthusiasm to bear arms. After serving 20 years, he retired and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He also worked with the US Postal Service; and retired after 15 years. Sam accepted Jesus Christ on July 17, 2018 and was baptized on July 28, 2018. He attended Grace Family Church.

Sam is survived by his daughters, Mei and Mary; his son-in-law, Joe; his son, Randy; and his grandchildren, Mark, Travis, Troy, Dylan, Zachary, Randy Jr., Lawrence, and Angela.
Visitation, service, and military burial will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. Reception immediately following the burial at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
