Peter entered the United States Army in 1967 and served on active duty for 27 years. Through many assignments including Vietnam, Germany, and South Korea. He quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant Major. SGM (Ret) Gould’s extensive military decorations included the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, three Purple Hearts, two Meritorious Service Medals, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm and National Defense Service Medal among many others. During his final active-duty tours, Peter became an influential part of developing young leaders as an ROTC Sergeant Major for University of Detroit and University of Missouri.
Following his military service, Peter continued to serve his country and help support others. Working at the American Veterans Organization (AMVETS) in the Department of Veterans Affairs, an Intelligence Analyst with Central Operations Command, and finally with his own American Security Services Agency as an advocate that assisted Veterans and others with social security, life coaching and disability claims.
Peter most enjoyed traveling with his “sweetpie” of 53 years, Beverly June Gould, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved partaking in various activities such as fishing, shooting, and boating with his children and grandchildren. He could always be found striking up conversations and happily joking or sharing stories with strangers. Peter had great love for family and treasured his friends.
In addition to Peter’s wife, Beverly June, Peter is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Gregory and Michelle Siviglia (Mark), his grandchildren, Kassandra Winchester (Kaleb), Austin Cobb, Kaylee Gregory, Samantha Siviglia, his great granddaughter, Kensington Winchester, his sister Pauline Camillo, and former son in law Mark Gregory.
Peter was predeceased by his mother Margaret V. Gould, and brothers, Patrick, Sean and Paul.
Funeral service will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 10118 St. Stephens Circle, Riverview, Florida, on November 28, 2022, at 12:00 pm, visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Final burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
