Mark Byrne, 66, of Brandon Florida, passed away January 16, after a brave struggle with cancer. He was at home with his beloved wife Lannie Byrne Mark was born in Lynn, MA, to Rita B. Byrne and the late Thomas L. Byrne. He grew up in Tewksbury, MA, with his brother’s Matt and Luke and his sister Dwyn. He graduated Tewksbury Memorial Highschool in 1970 and went on to Middlesex Community College. His passion for music and live performance led him to pursue a career as a music technician and he spent his formative years working with a variety of bands in the Boston area as well as the showband Larry & The Exciters. In 1978, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC, where he joined the International Music Ambassador’s Unit of the Army Air Force Band. For twenty-two years, until his honorable discharge as a Master Sargent, he facilitated live performances for audiences all over the world. This past year, Mark and Lannie shared an amazing cruise together, and just this past New Years they celebrated 26 years of marriage. Mark considered it the highlight of his last year. As Mark’s health began to decline his family gathered around him (including his trusty bud, Beau). Mark doled out his famous wisecracks and eye-rolls until the very end, and his bravery in those final days will be remembered proudly by his family. We will miss his love, his ever-ready mischievous smile, and his “great” hair. Mark is survived by his Mother Rita B. Byrne of Tewksbury, MA; his Sister Dwyn Dubinski and her husband Ken Dubinski, of Westford, MA; His brother Mathew Byrne and wife Beth Byrne of VA; His stepson Dennis Martin and his wife Pamela and their daughter Stephanie; His nephew Jonathan Byrne and wife Heather Byrne, and their children Jackson and Rachel, also of VA; his nephews Joe Dubinski, Thomas Dubinski, and his niece Erin Dubinski, of MA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Delia, Aida, Ressie, and Priscila as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A celebration of Mark's life will take place at 12 noon on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511; family will start receiving guests at 11 am.
