With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of beloved Marilyn “Kayl” Marie Brown. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marilyn passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born to Emmett and Beatrice Kayl on October 7, 1945, Sioux City, Iowa where she grew up with two loving sisters, Carolyn, and Kathy in Ponca, Nebraska. After graduating from high school, Marilyn moved from Ponca to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked in retail until she married Reggie Brown. She had 5 grandchildren, Ashlynn, Daniel Jr. (DJ), Peyton, Eli, and Jonah.
Marilyn loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She was very crafty and enjoyed sewing, needlework, designing and decorating. The garden was also where she enjoyed getting her hands dirty tending to her plants and flowers. She loved God and sharing fellowship with her church family. She also spent time volunteering in her community with Meals on Wheels and at the church. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
