Kathy Emery Mulvihill passed away on March 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Mulvihill, Jr.; mother Marilyn M. Emery; father Dr. J.V. Emery; and brother J.V. Emery II. Kathy is survived by her loving daughter Erin Mulvihill Luke (Craig) along with her precious grandsons - Aiden and Bryan. She was the best grandmother they could have and “loved them BIG!”. She is also survived by her brothers Gregg (Kathy) and David, partner Roger, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was a retired teacher who taught at Alafia Elementary in Valrico, FL for many years. She was awarded Alafia’s Teacher of the Year twice in her career, and was loved and respected by colleagues, students, and parents alike. Her positive attitude and infectious smile will be remembered by all.
Kathy enjoyed many trips to the Keys to spend time with family and offshore fish with her brothers and nephews. She caught many mahi-mahi and was particularly proud of reeling in a sailfish all by herself. She moved to St. Petersburg for her retirement, where she recently helped her grandson, Aiden, catch his very first fish.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered as mom, grandma, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend to many and she will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved her. She would want us all to go forth and “Do Good” in her memory.
A visitation for Kathy will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511.
