John E. Shelton, 84, entered his rest at his heavenly home on January 19, 2024 surrounded by the presence and love of his family. His loss is completely unexpected and his family is profoundly saddened.
John was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be so missed by his equally loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Sandra (Hudson) Shelton and his beloved daughter, Ingrid (Shelton) Counce. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts reminding us of the incredible person he was. John, we love you dearly and you will always be with us daily and forever in our hearts and lives.
John served in the United States Air Force with honor reflecting his commitment to duty and service. During his service he obtained achievements in electronics, air traffic and control, heavy ground radar and computers, blueprints, electrical and hydraulics maintenance and control.
John retired from Otis Elevator in 1995 after 34 years in the elevator industry. He held a variety of positions and levels of responsibility in adjusting, modernization, maintenance and construction. He was often praised for developing an irreplaceable amount of knowledge regarding elevators and the various electrical components within. He served in positions in Washington D.C.; Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Tampa and Sarasota, FL.
Funeral preparations are by Groover Funeral Home in Ellenton, FL. Private burial will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Chapel of the Palms, Brandon, Florida.
