Jimmy Lee Bruce, age 85, of Hawthorne FL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday November 16th. Jimmy was born in Bartow Fl, but lived most of his life in Tampa. He moved to Hawthorne after the love of his life, Dot, passed away.
Jimmy was a Navy Veteran and a proud American. He worked as a plumber, a painter and in construction until he and Dot opened Bruce’s Pallets in Tampa and Chitter Chatter Pallets in Hawthorne.
He is predeceased by his parents Will and Mary Bruce, his brother Billy Bruce, sister Betty Buttram, and grandchildren Jessica and Joey Grimsley. He is survived by his daughter Janell, sons Jerry (Kari) and Joe (Denise). He enjoyed his seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren,
For many years Jimmy and Dot were foster parents and were still an active part of the lives of a few they considered their own: Kevin Garrity, Diane Reissfelder-Trim, Paige Moses, Carla Worden and Lisa King (John).
Services for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, December 9th at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will occur from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and a graveside service will occur from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
