Jerome W. Manning 76 a lifelong resident of Florida passed away at the Palm Garden Nursing home on April 11, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally (nee Alford), his son Kenneth, daughter, Suzette, grandson, Joshua McCrary, stepdaughters, Weslie Cutchens, Kristen Alford , Cari Alford and step grandchildren Avery, Garrett and Lillian Cutchens, brothers Donald, Glen and Carl, his sisters Iris, Arlene, and Annette and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elzie and Monica and his brother Stanley. Jerry attended Jesuit High School, St Leo University and graduated from University of South Florida. He was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Saratoga and participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion. While in the Navy, Jerry worked on communication systems for fighter planes. In civilian life, he was a technician for Xerox for over 30 years. Jerry was an owner, trainer, breeder and exhibitor of Basset Hounds, but his passion was teaching children how to train and show dogs. Jerry helped form the Florida 4-H Dog Project plus helped organize shows, training events and dog camps for children to attend. He was a member of HCFDF, Suncoast Basset Hound Club, Suncoast Basset Rescue, Basset Hound Club of America and more. He will be missed by everyone he has helped and mostly by his loving family. Memorial Mass will take place April 16th 10am Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa and a graveside service will be following at 12:30pm Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon.
