Janet was born in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Mavis and Osmond Britton. She attended the Gem School, Chetolah Park and Ardenne High School, before enrolling in Friern Girls School in the UK. She moved to the United States in the early 70s and was employed as a Production Manager at Soap Opera Digest for over 20 years. After moving to Florida, she worked as the Insurance Coordinator at USF until her recent death. Janet’s faith was an important part of her life and she worshipped at the Chapel at Fishhawk for many years and also helped out at the Sunday School until her illness made it difficult to continue. Her devotion to helping others extended beyond her church and into her community through volunteering. Her interests included family, volunteering, church, handicrafts, cooking and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mavis and Osmond. She is survived by her daughter, Brittny Britton-Joseph and grandson, Giovanni Julien; siblings, Norma Turnbull, Elizabeth McLaren, Valerie Britton-Kant, Charles Britton, Rosemarie Britton, Phillip Britton and Steven Britton; nieces: Emma Britton-Kant, Rachel Britton and Gabriella Britton; nephews: Alexander Britton-Kant, Nathan Britton, Nicholas Britton and Myles Britton and cousin, Angela Walters. She will be missed by her many other relatives, colleagues and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 9th, at 4 pm at The Chapel at Fishhawk, 6026 Churchside Dr, Lithia 33547.
