Robert was born in Florence County, South Carolina to William Jesse Ard & Lessie Marie Ard on June 1, 1941. He married Annie Lou Henderson on Dec. 23, 1964 and this December they would have celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Before retiring, he worked as a welder for Agrico/IMC/Mosaic for 30+ years
Robert was a man of few words, but his sense of humor will never be forgotten. His one-liners left many of us laughing. His smile lit up the room. He was the pilar of our family and always there to help anyone who needed him, whether it was work on our car or give us a ride, he was always someone you could count on. His work ethic was unmatchable. He set a great example of what a husband and father should be. He had a heart of gold and was a father figure to many in the family and in his last days said he had no regrets about that ever.
He loved to fish and many days after work, that’s where you could find him. That love was instilled by his mother when he was a very young boy. Out of 11 children, Robert was the one that fished with his mom and enjoyed that special time with her.
Robert is preceded in death by his father William Jesse Ard, his mother Lessie Marie Ard, sisters, Geneva Mettie Matthews, Lillian LeVonne “Vonnie” Ard, Virginia Clara Bow Johnson, Aggie Jean Dennis and brothers, Jesse Naomi Brown, Raymond David Ard, Edward Billy Ard, Preston LaRoss Ard and William Joseph Ard.
