Helen was a WWII Navy Veteran and she started the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program in Connecticut. She also started the drum and bugle corps in Meriden, Connecticut, the name was Nugmeg Rangers. Helen did this so that her children could have the experience of learning to play instruments.
Survivors include her children, Julie (Jimmy) Casale, Steve Blanchard and Jimmy (Joanne) Blanchard; grandchildren, Damon Casale, Kevin (Serenity) Casale, Ryan Casale, Jonathan Casale, Tommy (Lori) Blanchard and Shelly Blanchard; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and one sister, Ramona Morrell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Felix Blanchard; two brothers and one sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Maine.
