Gordon Lamar Mosteller, Jr., 94, died August 15, 2021, in Tampa. He was a man of principal and integrity. Gordon was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but soon moved to Miami Beach, where he lived until his father’s death in 1939. Gordon and his mother moved to Barnesville, Georgia, where Gordon was admitted to Gordon Military Institute. He graduated in 1945 and was immediately drafted and served in Italy and Germany. After being discharged he graduated from the University of Florida and began his teaching career. He taught at Sligh and Wilson and retired as principal of Belle Witter Elementary. He was married to Julia K. Mosteller in 1952 but she died less than two years later. He owned the first Porsche in Hillsborough County. He married Emma Guthery in 1959 and they were married 60 years. He is predecessed by his parents Gordon L. Mosteller, Sr. and Mary E. (Thrower) Mosteller, three sisters Annice C. Crowder (John), Martha C. Thompson (Robert) and Doris A. (Bob) Hoehn, stepdaughter Melody S. Vickers, as well wives Julia K. Mosteller and Emma G Mosteller. He is survived by his stepson Richard R. Vickers (Fairfax) and his grandchildren Richard S.M. Vickers and Fairfax V. Kadziszewski (Tom), as well several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gordon will be buried at Millwood Cemetary in Reddick next to his wife Emma next Wednesday at 11:30 am.
