Salo, Evelyn, 85, passed away on Nov. 3, 2013 peacefully at home. She was born in Richmond, IN. on Oct. 29, 1928. Evelyn moved to Lucerne, IN. in 1951 where she operated the only grocery store in the small farm community for 25 years. She then moved to Brandon, FL., and married Doug in 1981 in Atlanta and they resided there until moving back to Brandon in 1989. Evelyn had an article published in the Tampa Tribune in 2002 in the “Remember When” column. It was an article on the Great Depression and how her family pulled together to see a special Christmas that year for friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Ruth Zimmerman. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Salo, daughters, Diane Greco (Raymond), Rebecca Shipley, Cindy Salo, and Sherri Moralevitz(Robert), a son, William Shipley. Grandchildren, Jake, Amanda, Zachary, Holland, Vanessa, Amon, Llosh, Kalei, Richie, Ashley, Brandon, and Jeremy, 12 great grandchildren, and a best friend, Vanessa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 6, 2013 at 1 PM. All services will be held at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in her name to Humane Society of Hillsborough County due to her great love and fondness of animals.
