Evelyn Summers Hamilton, 96, of Brandon, FL, passed away on Saturday, December 7th. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Thomas Patrick Hamilton, as well as her parents, Jessie Lonnie Summers and Edith Agner Summers, sister Barbara Summers Dorsey, and brothers Marlin Summers, Nevin Summers, Grey Summers, and J.L. Summers.
Evelyn was born on December 28th, 1927, to Jesse Lonnie and Edith in Madison, FL. She began elementary school at the age of three since her mother was a much-needed teacher. She began college at the age of 16 at Florida Southern, graduating with a degree in Business. After graduation, she moved to Jacksonville, FL, and began her first job as a bookkeeper for Foote Lumberyard.
Evelyn married Thomas Hamilton in September of 1950, going on to have three children, Patrick Hamilton and wife Marie and Michael Hamilton and wife, Patty of the Brandon area; and Letitia Hamilton Marsh and husband Tom of Fort Smith, Arkansas. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Patrick Marsh, Ryan Marsh, Nicole Franklin, Michele Alley, Andrew Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton, Brittany Hamilton, and Jessica House, and thirteen great grandchildren.
After retiring from a long-time career as a court stenographer, Evelyn enjoyed her grandchildren and her beloved church circle, St. Francis, coordinating their fall pecan fundraiser for many, many years.
