Donnie Elwyn Walker, a native of Central Florida and Tampa, passed away September 27, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on June 16, 1947, near Tifton, Georgia and spent his childhood in Hardee County, Florida. He graduated from the University of Tampa. Don spent his entire working life as a civilian employee of the United States Air Force. Don cherished his family and the memories they shared at the beach and at each other’s homes. He loved his church family at Kings Avenue Baptist Church where he was an Elder and Sunday School teacher.
Don was a huge fan of the Gators and Bucs. He loved music, especially country star Bill Anderson.
Don leaves behind his son, Daniel (Tammy) Walker, and siblings, Vivian Megronigle, Joseph (Cindy) Walker, Ron (Kim) Walker, Mona (Bill) Crean, and Naomi (Randy) Clanton. He will be lovingly remembered by the rest of his extended family and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah “Lynette” Whidden Walker, mother and father, Hendricks and Versie Smith Walker, and his siblings Elaine Walker, Dale Walker, Darrell Walker and Margaret Anderson.
Donations can be made to The Tim Tebow Foundation in honor of Don Walker.
A funeral service for Donnie will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Kings Avenue Baptist Church, 2602 South Kings Avenue, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. A graveside service will occur 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 in Bowling Green Cemetery, Bowling Green, Florida.
