Donna was born in Charleston, SC to Raymond & Myrtice Cooper on April 1, 1941. She went to high school at Clay County High School in Green Coves Springs, FL, and graduated from Jones Business School immediately following. She married Charles E Ortelt, Sr on October 7, 1961, in Orlando, FL. She was a secretary during the early years between School and having Children. She was then a homemaker, raising her 4 children. Life as a military spouse was not always easy. Her husband was active duty in the USAF and Donna held down the fort raising the children by herself while he was on TDY assignments and in Vietnam. When the oldest two children were in high school, she went back to work full-time as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement. She enjoyed functions that her children were involved in, band and then marching band with their high school as she loved high school football games! Mealtime was always as a family and dessert was there if you cleaned your plate! She loved her flower gardens and took such pride in them! She was also fantastic with needlepoint and made quilts for each of her grandchildren when they were born.
Donna is preceded in death by both of her parents, Raymond & Myrtice Cooper, her husband Charles E Ortelt, Sr, two sisters: Sherry Gusa (Art Gusa) of Palestine TX, Joy Clark (Bernie) of Hattiesburg, MS, and brother: Carl Cooper (Connie Cooper) of Oviedo, FL.
