Born October 4, 1944 to Eleanor and William Carl Thomas, Donald, a loving and devoted husband of 51 years, is survived by his wife, Kathleen, brother Charles and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
After graduating from the University of South Florida, he and Kathleen eventually moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he became a surveyor and traveled and worked from Yakutat to Prudhoe Bay for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he and Kathleen returned to Florida.
Don was an avid sailor, (an enthusiastic member of the Tampa Sailing Squadron), kayaker, bicyclist, (encompassing New Zealand, Spain, Mexico, Belize and the Iditabike in Alaska). He also enjoyed traveling in an RV.
Don's generosity of spirit and willing hands to help friends, family and neighbors will always be remembered.
