Christina Lynn Burgess

Christina (Christie) Lynn Burgess, age 51, entered into Heaven on January 25, 2022. Christina was born on June 14, 1970, in Anderson, Indiana. Christie was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Seffner, Florida, for 48 years where she volunteered at Seffner Christian Academy for 26 years. Christie never met a stranger and had a lasting impact on every student, faculty, and parent she came in contact with over the years. Although born with Downs Syndrome, her mental and physical challenges never held her back. Christie was homecoming queen at Dover Exceptional School, earned countless ribbons in Special Olympics, an honorary black belt in martial arts, and participated in Buddy Baseball.

Christina is survived by her loving parents Bill and Helen Burgess; Sister, Debbie (Johnny) Saunders. Nieces and Nephews, Andrew (Shannon) Pennington, Courtney (Ryne) Hiter, Garrett (Amber) Saunders, Caleb (Madison) Saunders; Great Niece; Lola Jolene Pennington; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

She now joins in Heaven her sister, Nora; grandparents, William and Dixie Burgess and George and Nelda Perkins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3 at 10:00 AM at First Free Will Baptist Church of Tampa, U.S. Hwy 92 East, Seffner, FL, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Committal to follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon, Florida. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed at tampafreewill.com.
