Carmen Dorado defied the odds and made a name for herself despite growing up with humble beginnings. Daughter of a farmer and a homemaker in Iloilo, Philippines, she put herself through nursing school at Iloilo Mission Hospital.
Carmen's ambitions led her to the prestigious Columbia University in New York, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a Master of Arts degree in nursing education at the renowned Teachers College.
Carmen's expertise and leadership led her to become the Director of Nursing at Emmanuel Hospital in Roxas City and later, Acting Dean of the College of Nursing at Jaro, Iloilo.
In New Jersey, she was a nursing supervisor before moving with her late husband Herman to Chicago, where their daughter Josephine was born. Carmen served as evening supervisor at St. James Hospital in Chicago until the family moved to Tampa, Florida, where she managed her husband’s medical office until his passing in 2002. Today, her legacy lives on through her daughter Josephine. Carmen's fortitude and accomplishments stand as a testament to the strength of women everywhere.
