Betty Bass Coyle passed away at her home in Riverview at the age of 89 on Friday April 15, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Tampa on January 14,1933 and grew up in Tampa with her brothers, who preceded her in death, Willie and Howard Baugh. Betty married Clinton Bass in 1949 when she was 16 years old and later moved to Brandon where they raised their two children Larry and Cindy.
Betty worked and retired from Aetna Insurance after many years of employment. She was a longtime member of Bells Shoals Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School and Church Services. When she could no longer attend, she would watch services on her laptop.
After Clintons death, she married John (Jack) Coyle and they resided in Riverview for many years until his death in 2022.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, raising butterflies, gardening, caring for her orchids, and loved to watch and attend sporting events. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends while on beach vacations and went on to own a beach house on Holmes Beach. Her greatest pleasure though, was her four grandchildren. Betty enjoyed the years of babysitting her grandchildren, spending Christmas with them and watching them grow and achieve their goals. Betty was also blessed with six great grandchildren.
Betty will be greatly missed and is survived by her son Larry Bass (Sylvia), daughter Cindy Fallon Damato (Joe). Her grandchildren Robert Fallon (Jana), Deanna Jordan (Mike), Kevin Bass (Michelle) and Karen Bass. Her great grandchildren Julia Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Carter Fallon, Amelia Fallon, Merrick Bass and Morgan Bass. She is also survived by her extended Damato and Coyle families.
A funeral service for Betty will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Bell Shoals Church - Brandon Campus, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd, Brandon, FL 33511. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
