Alan was born on March 3, 1947 in Grand Junction, CO and grew up in Huron, South Dakota as the second oldest of three children. Alan enlisted in the US Navy and served in Viet Nam. Upon his return, he again enlisted in the US Army for 20 years in various assignments in Europe and stateside, then serving for another 30 years as a civil servant for the US Army and Air Force. During his assignment in Belgium, he met his lovely wife, Beatrice Lecocq who he married in December 1970.
Alan loved refereeing military intramural and high school soccer and football. He loved watching and attending sports events with his son, Gregory. Family and friends described him a hero, a leader, kind, loving, funny, witty and unforgettable.
Alan is survived by his wife, Beatrice; son, Gregory Allen; brother, Hubert Bahr II of Copperas Cove, TX and sister, Louanna Fulton of Copperas Cove,TX. Preceded in death by his parents, Hubert A. Bahr and Elenor M. Stewart.
The family is having a private service on Friday, August 2, 2019 and his ashes will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery with Military Honors on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 130pm. Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.HillsboroMemorial.com
