Margaret was born on July 10, 1928 in Deer Park, NY to the late James and Elizabeth (Roosa) Black. Margaret grew up on the Black family farm in Hainesville, NJ, living there her whole life until she moved to Layton, NJ with her daughter in 2019. Prior to her retirement, she was a switchboard operator at Lakeland bank. Margaret and Warren embraced hosting of many family events, birthdays and holidays in Hainesville throughout their lives together and shared a love of their numerous canine companions.
The beloved wife to the late Warren “Pitt” Pittenger, Margaret is survived by her daughter, Patricia Wolfinger; her grandchildren, Timothy Wolfinger and his wife, Shelia and Jessica Wolfinger and her wife, Tai Shimuzu; her siblings, Joan E. Cafasso and her husband, Joseph and Dale Black and his wife, Joanne; her great-grandchildren Reese and Lena Wolfinger and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, her son, Raymond Pittenger and her brother, James Laurence Black and his wife, Marjorie, her lifelong best friends, Carol (Agar) Harris and Carolyn (Cole) Perry, predeceased Margaret.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Newton VFW Post 5360, 85 Mill St, Newton, NJ.
