Judy grew up in Branchville where she drove a taxi for the family taxi service and was a model for the local photography club. She then worked at Selective Insurance prior to becoming a devoted and loving homemaker. Judy volunteered for over 25 years at Newton Hospital in the coffee shop. She was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.
Judy loved flower gardening and was crafty, making elaborate Halloween costumes and matching Christmas skirts for her daughters. She was an avid card player in many bridge clubs, with friends in her crazy eights group or playing “Grandma’s Game” with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could find her on the golf course with her golf league or in a charitable golf tournament. She frequently visited NYC to see a Broadway Shows with her theatre group. She enjoyed traveling the world with adventures to far off places such as Sri Lanka and China. Judy loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and if you played Trivial Pursuit you would want her on your team for the win.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Grant 3rd “Skeet”; her parents, Glenn & Ina Lantz; her brother, Glenn “Ginker” Lantz; and her grandson, Dennis Abato Jr. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jesse (Linda), Cindy Abato (Bart), Jeff (Patty), Trish Froehner (Dennison); her 8 grandchildren and her 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, Darryl (Nancy) Lantz, Lloyd “Jim” (Gladys) Lantz; her sister-in-law, Janet Lantz; and many nieces and nephews. She is further cherished in friendship by many fellow bridge players and golfers who have truly enriched her life over the years.
