Barbara Jean Barthel

Barbara was born on August 4, 1937 in Wantage to the late Harold and Monica (Byrd) Decker. Barbara grew up in Newton before settling in Branchville. Barbara enjoyed taking frequent trips to Florida and Michigan. However, she also loved to be home spending time with her family and watching her favorite television shows.

The beloved wife to Joseph Barthel, Barbara is survived by her children, Harold Schreiber, Robert Schreiber (Bonnie), Bonnie Dean (Eugene), Dennis Schreiber (Denise) and Carol Schreiber (Bob); her siblings, Gary Decker (Grace) and Bruce Decker (Betsy); her sister-in-law, Nancy Halliday; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Along with her parents, her brother, Richard Decker and daughter-in-law, Kathy, predeceased Barbara.

A visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Frankford Plains Cemetery in Frankford, NJ.
