I worked with Yvonne at the World Bank/Washington DC from 1968 thru 1970.  Our great friendship continued when I moved to Toronto in 1974.  Yvonne was a real true caring friend whom my whole family will miss a great deal.

I met Yvonne just a few years ago. However, because of her generosity of spirit and her welcoming ways we became close friends. We spent many hours together - attending Theater shows, participating in Ladies Games Nights, going to picnics and so on. I will miss her dearly. Yvonne you were very kind to have accommodated mum and I when we were in Toronto eons ago. You even made delectable sandwiches, and took us to the bus stop to catch our tour bus for the excursion along the East coast of Canada into the US.

 We were shocked to have heard of your passing, we pray for your soul lovely Yvonne. You were a Godsend to mum and I, and now you are in the Best Company possible, with Our Lord and Our Father.

Yvonne has been part of my life since I was a kid; firstly because our families go way back to her parents and my grandparents and secondly, when she was playing basketball and hockey and my aunt, Sheila, was their coach, we would go with them to their early morning practices on the Calcutta maidan.
Later, as I grew up, Yvonne and Phyllis Jones, lived down the road from us, in a one-roomed flat on Marsden St. 
Then, when I came to Canada, our lives became entwined again. Her brother Buddha (Ivor) was a great friend of my husband Lou. So once again, we were thrown together in many social settings  picnics, dances, dinners at each other's homes. 
When AIIT was established, Yvonne was a great supporter, both as a subscriber and also by way of donations for gifts at dances and help during the dances.
Then along comes Blair Williams who wants to set up his fund for Tiljallah Relief. I have a dance with the help of Yvonne and other friends and it is a reasonable success. So we decide to make it an annual event. Yvonne and I then run the CTR fund and events in Canada with the help of a committee for 11 years and raise a lot of money for Tiljallah and set up sponsorships for young girls and seniors in India.
Who can forget Yvonne's famous pan rolls, or her Christmas cakes, coconut sweets, dholdhol and other goodies. These would be the staples of her annual Christmas gift baskets to her friends to which we all came to look forward.
Yvonne was part of what I used to call my Ole gals group. We used to take turns to host pot luck lunches. On looking back, it is funny that we were all so set in our ways that we all brought the same type of food for the event. Yvonne could always be counted on the bring the vegetable dish. The table at Yvonne's home at Brock Ave was always set out with her Royal Albert bone china dishes and crystal and it made the lunch really special. 
It is times like these and friends like Yvonne that make life so special. Yvonne, my friend, you will be missed. R.I.P

I remember Yvonne from the many gatherings June would hold for those most dear to her, family and the closest of friends. She was a lovely soul always kind and warm to me and everyone around.
