Passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood, ON., following a struggle with cancer, with family by her side throughout her final days. Beloved wife of the late Edward Alan Smithson for 36 years. Loving mother of Barbara Pinck (the late Tim Pinck ), Doug Barkwell, Kevin Barkwell (Christine Major), and Wendy Muise (Jason). Cherished grandmother of Ryan Pinck, Jennifer Pinck, Shane Sherman, and Devin Sherman. Great grandmother of 3. Survived by Edith (Jim) Salmon, Edna Benson, Dorothy (Bill) Davenport, Audrey (Mac) Coutts, Norma McArthur, Larry Bennett, Eleanor (Carl) Fler, and Wayne Bennett . Pre deceased by siblings: Mary Neufeld, Lillys Paulichuck, Alice Breadner, Gladys Bennett, Roy Bennett, Harold Bennett and Allen Bennett. Velma will be missed by all her many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may gather at Andrews Community Funeral Centre - 8190 Dixie Rd, Brampton (north of Steeles) 905-456-8190 on Sunday February 12th, 2017 from 2pm till 6 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday February, 13th, 2017 at 11 am.. She was loved in life and will not be forgotten in death.
