It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Fazekas on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Hospice Vaughan in Woodbridge, Ontario with family by her side at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Louis Fazekas. Loving mother to Stephen, Catherine, Louis and Christopher. Cherished grandmother to Christopher, Scott, Lucas and Brianna. Dear sister to the late Emil “Hurlie” Hreljac (late Arletta), John Hreljac (late Maureen), Frank Hreljac (Karen), late Vic Hreljac (Beth), late Edward Hreljac (Pauline), Lillian (late Ed Dmytrasz).
Mary will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, friends and family members who’s lives she touched. Her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She was born on July 10, 1934 in Creighton, Ontario, to the late Mathew and Branka Hreljac. After getting married, Mary spent most of her life in Sudbury, and later moved to Brampton after the passing of her husband.
Mary was an avid and vocal baseball fan, she loved to watch and cheer at her husband’s, son’s and grandson’s baseball games, she would watch every single game on television that she could, it didn’t matter what teams were playing, as long as the Jays didn’t win. She enjoyed bowling, late night card games, and playing Bingo with her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Vaughan for their compassionate care and support.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 1 pm – 2 pm at Andrews Community Funeral Centre – Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, ON. A private Celebration of Life service will take place at 2 pm following the visitation.
