Born in Scone, Scotland on September 29, 1925, she witnessed incredible changes to her world through the 9 decades of her life.
During WWII she met her loving husband, Kenneth Cook, who was serving with the Royal Army Service Core (England) and stationed in Scotland at the time. Married in Perth, Scotland in 1949 they lived in the village of Scone for the next 18 years where they raised their family then emigrated to Canada in 1967, settling in Mississauga.
She was the beloved mother of Hazel, proud grandmother of Kyle and Stephanie, and great grandmother to Kaeden, Christien and Arya. Predeceased by her husband Ken, son Kevin, sister Molly Gabrek, brother-in-law Bronek Gabrek, and nephew Frankie Gabrek.
Mary lived a full life working in the retail and manufacturing sector. She couldn’t cook to save her soul, but was highly skilled with knitting needles in her younger years and enjoyed 10-pin bowling, card games with friends, their home away from home in Florida and singing the hits of Max Bygraves, knowing every word by heart. Most of all she loved her family and all the gatherings that brought everyone together.
She was warm and tender with a touch of class and sass and will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held when the sun is shining and the weather is warmer as those were the days she loved the most.
